Vapor Gard® is an emulsifiable, film forming Pinolene, which is a derivative of pine resin. It is a totally natural product, which is of similar composition to the natural waxy cuticle of the plant. Vapor Gard is an anti-transpirant and frost mitigation product for all horticultural and ornamental plants.

When dry, Vapor Gard forms a thin flexible film over the plant. This film has the ability to stretch three times its initial deposition size, providing protection even when growth occurs. Vapor Gard reduces moisture loss preventing the plant cells from desiccating and collapsing. Vapor Gard also helps to build up natural glycol levels in the plants cells. This helps the plant to tolerate colder conditions before freezing occurs. Damage mainly occurs due to cold desiccation and freezing temperatures. Vapor Gard will reduce the adverse effects of cold desiccation, but will not prevent damage from freezing temperatures.

The flexible film of Vapor Gard has been found to lessen the damage caused to some fruits, such as cherries, which are subject to splitting after heavy rain.
